I trust the system, John. In fact I don't trust Saddam. I know he's a murderous thug. However, I don't think the UN will send idiots to reconnoiter Iraq. Certainly highly trained folks will be able to spot any potential weaponry, which areas can be pinpointed by satellite. I mistrust Bush's motives, which motives I believe have been foisted upon him by others. Either Saddam allows the unconditional inspections or he's toast. He knows it. You have to ask yourself, what does Saddam have to gain by waging war? He's in NO position to take over the world, let alone the US. He doesn't like Israel, but why would he give up the comforts that all that oil money can bring him if he simply rolls over. That's an easy choice. Now, why are we pushing to invade and replace him as head of Iraq? What can we possibly gain by invading Iraq instead of say, Pakistan since they harbor al Qaeda and their leader is bad news. How about Zimbabwe? We're letting millions starve there. Bush said in his speech to the UN: "Our commitment to human dignity is challenged by persistent poverty and raging disease. The suffering is great, and our responsibilities are clear. The United States is joining with the world to supply aid where it reaches people and lift up lives ... to extend trade and the prosperity it brings ... and to bring medical care where it is desperately needed." Let me just address the last sentence...bring medical care where it is desperately needed...Millions in this country are WITHOUT medical care or any hope of getting it. My point is, charity begins at home. The money we'd use to invade Iraq could and should be used to help the US citizenry and build a greater nation. We can't save everyone. They wouldn't appreciate it anyway.
