jrhana,
For various contrarian reasons, I disagree with your assessment of SWC. Matter of fact, I find it compelling enough to play a little despite my looming vacation, I've been buying in the low 6's.

Here are a few of my probably foolish reasons:

Platinum Palladium demand is increasing, not decreasing, despite the recession, due to increased demand from developing countries/asia (but not japan). I generally don't consider FA in PM stocks, but with Russia and South Africa being the only other areas with these metals, it demands consideration and SA is a special consideration now IMHO.

Investment demand for Platinum is currently nill (contrarian)

A mining stock is not a tech bio or fiberoptic stock and should not be compared, IMHO.

SWC is at it's large HS measurement and also it's initial price adjusted for split, making it a price decision area.

JPM downgrade Sept 6 (Super contrarian coming from the Derivative King).

SWC tends to go down in the autumn months and start rising in winter (thanks to Russians perhaps).

I like the doji on chart:

finance.yahoo.com

SWC debt problems may be exaggerated in this market environment. Said problems exacerbated by labor problems which will usually end up being resolved. Miners won't enjoy higher pay (via bonus) if they don't have a job.

But MOST of all, recent tape action indicates possible replay of recent 8 to 10 dollar run, which I enjoyed IMMENSELY, (in this case run may be 6 to 8).

AND SWC could work as a play both in a down market and in a bear market rally.

Finally, I am a knife catcher bottom picker survivor supremo. It's weird, it's not recommended, no one SANE does it but a fool, but fool or not, (contrary contrary) it's what I do best.

So if anyone get's burned playing this one, don't blame me, I warned ya, I could daytrade this one yet today or sit on it for a year, there's no telling,

[OH, and RETIRED, if you're out ther in IGNORED land, I'll be on VACATION SO I WILL NOT be taking the time to indicate my sale most likely!!]

DISCLAIMER:
it's just my opinion and I could be wrong!

ggg
