One bright spot in all of the tech world and CIBC has to spill ink saying it can't exist.

Almost makes you wonder if the CIBC guy is confusing chipset sales with handset sales. Adding this Jan forecast of 20+ with this quarters 20 gets you to 40. Last quarter June was 17 (I think) and that already puts you at 57 million chipsets from Q alone for the 3 quarters. Without checking I am assuming quarter was at least 15 and that gets you to 72 million chipsets alone. But Q doesn't make all the chipsets. Even assuming they make as much as 90% would put handset sales in the 80 million range (at bottom of Q's earlier forecast). If Q only made 85% of chipsets (Nokia and Mot made some) that would put you at the upper end of Q's handset sales range of 85 million. The CIBC's claim of 64 million handsets for 2003 is a bald faced lie even with existing information that we know.

Today is options expiration; someone probably wants to keep the price down.
