The search feature is the second most valuable asset SI has.

Agreed. And it would be even more useful if it searched back farther, and/or if one could do searches through an individual member's posts.

On this latter wish-list item, I find that I often remember that a particular member said something about X stock or Y topic (with no idea of which board of a half-dozen of the biotech boards), but can't readily find it through a full-text search (which doesn't reach as far back in time as searches of individual message boards).

Can anything be done along these lines, John?

It's also one of the 3 main requirements for message board software, IMO.

Message boards, in their purest essence, are for:

1. Posting messages
2. Reading messages
3. Finding messages to read

Anything beyond that is a frill and anything that impedes any of those 3 is a nuisance.

Which is why I'm going to take your "cumbersome" comment to heart and have another look at the interface at iHub and see if it's got too many non-essential elements or if it doesn't flow correctly.

In your opinion, is it a flow problem or a clutter problem? Flow is really tough to address, but clutter is comparatively easy. I'm already deeply into letting users control many elements of their interface, and it wouldn't be too difficult to offer a simplified version of the same interface.
