Not the juxtaposition I was hoping for

Sorry to be a party pooper. As I was reading your essay, I was reminded of that article, which I had clipped but not posted that day because the climate on the thread just didn't seem right for it. You were talking about the generosity of people in the wake of 9/11, but the victims in that article don't seem to be receiving much of it. I think that family is no less worthy of support than the families of those in the towers.

On another related subject, I responded to a survey yesterday. They wanted to know the likelihood of my voting for Nader for President (cold day in hell) and which party I blamed for the corporate scandals (neither). They also asked me if there should be a national holiday for 9/11? I thought that was an interesting question. I infer from it that there is some incipient movement out there to memorialize the day. It will be interesting to see if that goes anywhere. The ebb and flow of holidays like Columbus Day, MLK, Presidents' Day, etc. is always interesting to me.

I'm going to run out now to see if I can find some chicken livers. <g>
