`Dangerous, Defiant'

WASHINGTON POST
July 2, 1999; Page A26
Section: Editorial
Word Count: 459

THAT IS HOW the Clinton administration defines the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein: "dangerous, unreconstructed and defiant." So A. Elizabeth Jones, principal deputy assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs, told Congress last week. As analysis, her description is refreshingly candid and accurate. As an evaluation of U.S. policy, it is close to an admission of failure. Although the administration no longer speaks about it much, Saddam Hussein remains most dangerous....

Hi, Scott, and welcome back...NOT!
Of course "W" planned regime change before he became president. The entire western world longed for it, but Clinton was too busy diddling Monica and fending off Hillary to have time for anything else!

Get a life, Scott!.......jj

"It spotlights China for regime change, saying it is time to increase the presence of American forces in SE Asia". Uh huh,I guess that answers my question. No more messing around. After Iraq, we invade China. The hell with McArthur's warning to avoid a land war in Asia. The hell with the lessons learned from Vietnam. No more small time stuff. This is the bold new America. The fastest gun in the west is gunning for the yellow peril. Gotta keep all those would be superpowers down.

Given my choice, I would much rather we be respected and liked around the world rather than feared. It is going to take years for the world to get past what is going on now.

Re dissent; This country was built by folks who dissented against their government at the risk of their lives. I think it would make them weep to see attempts to tar all of us who disagree with Shrub as un-American. Dissent is the most American thing we can do.
