<<from iraq to iran to syria and of course saudi arabia>>

I am hopeful that the madman in Bagdad will get a feeling of impending doom, and let the inspectors back in. And then, I'm hopeful that Bush will have no support (from our allies, from the Congress, or from the Sec. of State) for war, so he has to back down (although that would leave him with zero credibility). And I'm hopeful for a peaceful annexation of N. Korea by S. Korea, like what happened to E. Germany. Sometimes, sanity prevails.

I have not read what is being discussed but here is my .02 as far as Iraq and risk of their weapons go..

When Iraq invaded Kuwait, a territory long in dispute from Iraq's point of view, because informally they were told US was not going to make a fuss, Iraq was at that time apparently a regime in good standing (goes to show dubious principles at best on US part.. Nothing new here.. US foreign policy is well documented.. Fairness and justice has nothing to do with it.. Self interest is..).

Once it was decided, better to bomb the hell out of them (take your pick here, Saudis were at risk or Kuwait's oil supply was at risk or what have you), propaganda started in earnest as to how formidable Iraq was going to be.. From their weapons to their Elite fighting force.. Of course, market tanked as Iraq was painted as a credible force.. No one question one simple fact of Iraq's supposed superiority.. How come they could not make a dent attacking Iran, and these two buggers were going at it for quite a while before Gulf War, with their weapons and fighting force.. Needless to say, even then with all the resources at his command, Saddam was all bark and no bite..

So Iraq was bombed into submission.. Moved out of Kuwait, and later all manner of arms and weapons programs were destroyed under UN.. Since then, there have been a virtual isolation in terms of their economy, all imports and exports closely supervised and watched..

Now we have again the same cast of characters of 11 years ago making the same claims re. a country that have been severly restricted.. Me think, these folks have very little credibility..

Yes, sure they want regime change.. No doubt Saddam is a jerk but do they have to bomb the hell out of the population again to manage that..

FWIW..
