Here is my reason for such pessimistic outlook in the near term. I think historic comparisons of p/e of these stocks will tells me that I should worry. If we look at the p/e ratios of mxim, lltc (I am using these two because they have had consistent earnings ie no negative earnings and plots are easier to read).

It clearly shows that the p/e's in 96 and 98 were much lower then todays p/e's. I have difficulty comparing p/e's for amat and others semi-equipment co. I have to look at xlnx and altr numbers also and will post them.

If I remember correctly the p/e's for mxim and lltc were in high teens. Can we reach those numbers this time certainly possible. That will the price of lltc in 14-15 range (guess) and mxim 17-18 range. Is this going to happen, I don't believe so. But I want to be ready for eventuality. Because that time will be the best time to buy/or at least be able to survive with what I have.

I don't know how to evaluate amat and nvls.

Now you see my despair.

Any comments will be welcome.
