Cary, I think these are quarterly averaged p/e's.

Try this url

symb=mxim&time=8&freq=1

If this does not work then try www.bigcharts.com, in the time frame choose custom, give time range from 1/1/98-12/31/98 and see the numbers I am talking about.

Please check for other stocks also.

In edit: Cary, please see the url provided by kirk in msg 5525. Get the charts for 1998, 1996 for the favorite stocks. Both mxim and lltc were in teens (p/e) at the bottom. Compare this to this year's p/e chart. There is certainly more room for these stocks to go down. This is what has me worried.
