Coeur Elects Officers

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho, Sep 18, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation (NYSE:CDE) today announced the election of officers of the Company following its annual meeting of shareholders held yesterday.
Dennis E. Wheeler, Coeur's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, also announced the promotion of Robert Martinez to the position of President of the Company. Mr. Martinez will retain his current position of Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Wheeler commented, "The appointment of Bob to this new role reflects his long service and significant contributions to Coeur."

Mr. Martinez has served Coeur for over 14 years and has worked within the mining industry for over 30 years. His most recent capacity was Chief Operating Officer for the past four years. Previous to that, he served as Vice President of Operations and Vice President and General Manager of Coeur Rochester, the Company's flagship operation located in Nevada.

The Company's re-elected officers are as follows: Geoffrey Burns -- Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Dieter Krewedl -- Senior Vice President of Exploration, James Duff -- Vice President of Business Development, Gary Banbury -- Vice President of Administration and Human Resources, Troy Fierro -- Vice President of Mining Services, Wayne Vincent -- Controller, and James Meek -- Treasurer.
