i did not perceive that article to be saying that all, jewel.

of course when a person posts a message they are "communicating" something with someone (assuming it is read)....

i happen to agree with haiman and his thesis about situation altering "utterances". no question they can be, but as he states "When a conscious mind intervenes between speech and action, nothing is inevitable. "

that puts the onus on the hearer.... not the speaker as to what the reaction will be.

an example recently in the news...

the 2 thugs that jumped from the stands and started beating on the 3rd base coach because they say he communicated something unsavory toward "them"...they put forth the argument that he provoked them with a flip of the middle finger (i'm doubtful that is true, but for argument sake let's assume that it is).

ultimately the combatants had the choice to ignore the so called provocation.

it is also obvious that a conscious mind was not intervening or worse still...using the perceived wrong to "green light" pursuing a course of harm toward that individual (and who can know what kind of perverse motivations spark that type of behavior)

so now, rightfully so...those who chose to NOT remain unaffected are paying a significant price....(social, physical, quite possibly financial.)
