G & Cary & Thread,
I will read the PMs on monday. I just wanted to direct you folks to a rather scary article by Steven Roach of MSDW vis a vis deflation. He claims that we are on the cusp of deflation now and that a bursting of the housing bubble will put the kabosh on the consumer bubble and as horns are reigned in by consumers who have cashed out their equity and spent it, there will be downward pressure on wages and prices too. He made no suggestions on how to lessen this the chances of this event.
His op ed piece was argued well. So if one accepts the housing bubble argument, what can be done now. Drive rates lower with fed cuts and flat out printing of money. Keep the refi bubble going until capex comes back?? Is some inflation the answer? How do we incent corporate spending on infra structure? More tax incentives to buy new equip now? Hell, give em tax credits to spend on capex in the next six months?? Mike

G,
My wife is making me meet with a money manager later in the week who is known to her family and has done well over the years. I know where this will lead. I am overexposed in tech and any advisor will advise diversification. This worries me no end, especially with these new lows. Should i just call it quits? I had a hellish weekend due to last weeks action. This is taking time off my life and making me sick. Its not the money only. It has to do with the way i look at myself. How could i have been so dumb? I put this out in public because i know i am not alone in these feelings. Would be interested in any and all suggestions. mike
