Thanks for posting the Dowd column, Scott.

I'm beginning to come to the conclusion she is right on this point. That this invasion talk is less about Iraq and much more about Manifest Destiny, much more about exploiting 9-11 to attack Iraq. I've been reluctant to get there but it certainly looks more and more like Dowd makes serious political arguments as well as biting Bush.

The administration isn't targeting Iraq because of 9/11. It's exploiting 9/11 to target Iraq. This new fight isn't logical — it's cultural. It is the latest chapter in the culture wars, the conservative dream of restoring America's sense of Manifest Destiny.
