Korean DRAM makers hike output

Samsung Electronics Co. and Hynix Semiconductor Co. increased their unit production of DRAMs by 4% to a combined total of 167.7 million chips in August from the previous month, according to the lastest report from DRAMeXchange.

The Koreans hold an estimated 49% global market share. The DRAM tracking service said Micron Technologies hiked its unit production sequentially in August by 14% to 59 million chips in its U.S. fabs, but its overseas output fell 1% with total Japanese production of 24 million chips and output remaining steady in Europe at 42 million units. Taiwan DRAM production in August fell 8% to 50 million units.
