I noticed the BBC picked this story up, but I didn't find it remarkable. The Israeli hospitals always treat both Jews and Arabs equally, what's the big deal? but it's positive that the BBC noticed, I guess. Now if the BBC would do side-by-side stories on Palestinians cheering the Scottish Jewish boy's death and holding a party to celebrate it, while an Israeli hospital uses his organs to save Palestinian lives, we might get a better picture of the whole situation.

edit: the BBC was wrong to say that 'one family' decided to donate the kidney, making it sound as if it was the family's decision and not normal hospital policy. Here's what the dead boy's brother said about the donation:

Jesner added that the family's role extends only to deciding to donate the organs and that they had no role in deciding who receives them. Yoni's second kidney and pancreas went to a 33-year-old diabetic man, his liver went to a 54-year-old man, and both his corneas were donated as well. Approximately 1,000 Israelis are waiting for organ donations.

The BBC does not seem to want to acknowledge that this sort of procedure is routine at Israeli hospitals.

A similar act of a vital organ transplant was donated six months ago by a Palestinian family to an Israeli. A heart possibly, of a collateral shot by the Israelis.
