Justice Minister Herta Daeuberl-Gmelin was reported to have compared President Bush to Hitler for threatening war to distract from domestic problems. She denied saying it. but, bush and schroeder have weak economies- and are using iraq to get voters focused on iraq, rather than the economy. Good point........the German press is saying Schroeder won because he handled the recent flooding of German cities well and because of his anti war stance. Regarding the latter, a majority of Germans are opposed to attacking Iraq preemptively so it wasn't too difficult for him to to distract them with that issue.
