If I read todays press release properly, they have expect gross adds to be 1.7 Million for the quarter, but net adds to be negative. According to BS's math, this is over 1.7 Million handsets in inventory!

1.7M gross adds, slightly more than 1.7M disconnections, for a net add number less than zero.

To get chipset sell-through, you add 1.7m plus replacements, which are probably pretty high due to the new color phones.
