I think if you carefully study Microsoft's balance sheet and income statements you will find that much (maybe even most?) of the money they have accumulated is from the sale of stock and trading in options on their own stock. Much of that money they supposedly made as profits was really the result of using smoke and mirrors to remove their main expense -- manpower -- from being accounted for as cost.

JMHO, of course.
