Investors pull $5.8 bln from stock funds in August By Craig Tolliver
Investors pulled an estimated $5.8 billion from stock mutual funds in August, marking the first month in nearly 14 years that equity funds had outflows despite rising market indexes, according to Lipper. Outflows follow a record exodus from stock funds in July, when investors yanked $53 billion, according to the Investment Company Institute. Lipper estimates that bond funds attracted $19 billion last month, second only to record inflows in July of $28 billion. Money market funds had outflows of nearly $37 billion.
