Good point Shootie. I agree with you. The point of the story, however, was that different social circles knew different aspects of the man. The people in the med center knew him as a caring and doting son. The people on the playground knew him an involved and nurturing father. The people on the sports field saw his extreme (jerk) competitiveness. All of them knew the man, the real man, but none of them knew the various other sides of his personality. Does that make these other aspects any less real? If he were a poster on SI who we only knew from his stories about fishing trips would what we know of him not count?
