I don't know if it will be sudden or a long drawn out process. I don't think low interest rates help us get to the bottom quickly, and I'm not sure that the soft, prolonged landing the govt is aiming for is the best policy.

Unless they want to string the economic pain out until after the next election. Or unless the govt wants rates low to mitigate the coupon they have to pay on newly issued govt bonds.
