Alan, Re: < My only point John was that until recently, this board appeared to be the home of LTBH INTC diehards who believe in the company, no matter what.>

You can still find them over here:

investorshub.com

According to various rumors Elmer got kicked off SI for:
Illegal post
or
Multiple Ids

It seems his last SI post was deleted.

The rest of that pack(wbmw, tenchu, Elmer, Semi) seems to have picked up a corporate rate for membership.

They seem to have gone elsewhere. I've heard people mention something called iHUB but have no idea what it is. I suspect it's a place for Intel technology diehards to go and talk about how great their technology is. (The fact that you can have great technology and bad business for long periods of time doesn't seem to dissuade them.)

I'm happy that this thread is getting back to Intel as an investment. Personally, as a former employee and user of their products, I believe in "the company" too, and suspect they'll be around for a long time. But I don't equate "good company and good products" with "good investment." That belief is an gross oversimplification of Peter Lynch's investment advice that has been frequently abused in the last 10 years. In truth, it's just a starting point.

[Disclosure: Shorted a bit of Intel at 14.65 today. I'm ahead a bit as of the close, with a stop just below my buy point. Don't have much conviction, but believe lower is more likely than higher in the next few days.]
