The other thing the europeans don't like about anything that makes the US stronger is that they know down deep that they will have to give up their socialist ways if they ever want to get their economies moving again. The situation is so dire that they have even gone to the extreme of a common currency and a large overriding bureaucracy.

That would be great!

We've got 50,000+ troops stationed in Germany. Why? The 21st century enemy of the civilized world lies in the Middle East.

Turning Iraq into a democracy, where it will be safe to use as a military base, is going to be just as difficult, if not impossible, than for turning Afghanistan into a democracy.
