Sorry, I can't believe it.

I accept that there is universal dislike and animosity amongst the Arab/Islamic world towards Israel, and for obvious reasons, but definitely not towards the US. In fact, much of the Arab/Islamic world feels let-down by the US because of the way pro-Israel sentiment totally dominates US foreign policy.

As you know from the piece which you posted about Saddam's mistress, his pleasure is to listen to Frank Sinatra. You wouldn't find a Muslim fundamentalist doing that. In fact, from TV programs which I have seen, the average Iraqi has a high regard, even an envy, for the West and would like nothing more than to live in America.

Believe me, I'm not saying Saddam is a nice guy, he isn't --- but so far, from the evidence and arguments presented, I cannot see a reason to "take him out". It may benefit Israel but it is certainly not in America's self-interest to do so.

In fact, I believe if the US extended a hand of conciliation to Saddam, he would take it.
