I read through half of the long thread before being overwhelmed by disgust. It had 200 or so posts at the time. You're quite right Lizzie, it's on the level of Yahoo, 99.8% sub-imbecilic. A couple of nit-picky posts about who invented the E10000, Cray or SGI. One or two posts claiming to be from current or recent Sun employees talking about the low level of current morale. One interesting and actually credible-sounding post claiming the poster knew many people with $5M or more in paper options value who were planning their early retirement when the bubble burst and they rode it down, that people in that situation number in the hundreds at Sun, but that also a large number did get out in time. So his point was that the upper ranks are now reduced somewhat by cashouts and many of the remaining people are bitter hangers-on (easy for us to say they should be glad even to have a job, but I doubt that fully describes their feelings).

A few posts were of the familiar "McNealy competes through litigation so this is what he gets" variety; those of course require the same number of neurons as the many gratuitously racist anti-H1B posts (namely zero).

Nothing much to be gleaned except that you can't underestimate the intelligence of the general public.

At least the fantasy of those on this board who insisted Sun would never cut back is now dispelled. Yes it's FC, but while I don't know about the numbers, I'm sure the rumors are approximately true.
