press accompanies troops on occasion, not the norm
do you really think reporters are scattered as they wish throughout the countryside in search of scoops?
after Perl was abducted and killed?
after the Red Cross incidents?
after numerous volunteers and travelers were killed in the last several years along the countryside?

that seems really farfetched, if not naive

do you think troop commanders invite reporters into camps which are seeing nightly sniper attacks and other ambushes?
I dont think so

in VietNam, press were routinely invited into the safest areas
some went into the field too deep though
it happened, and some got killed
Dan Rather was out there, once upon a time
after VietNam, reporters in the field ended
from then on, only on invitation and under escort

Afghany has a fascinating history
my knowledge is slim

the political and war topics are too much for me
sure, I engage a bit myself
I am taking some time off this thread
too much political stuff, back&forth arguing about Bush
I dont care much at all about politics
way way way too many articles posted on Bush and politics
I dont care much at all about politics
way too many articles posted about Iraq and conspiracies
I dont care much at all about politics

I am out of here for a while
if discussion returns to financial markets, stocks, bonds, currency, economy, gold, Fed action, international trade, bank sector, debt collapse, fraud cases as they pertain to stocks, then I will be back
