KLA-Tencor Nominates Kaufman To Fill Director Vacancy

Wednesday September 25, 11:17 am ET

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- KLA-Tencor Corp. (NasdaqNM:KLAC - News) is nominating Stephen Kaufman for election to a Class III director position to fill a vacancy left by Dean Morton's resignation from the board on July 31.

According to a proxy statement filed Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Kaufman, if elected, will serve as director until the company's annual meeting in 2004, the same term as the other Class III directors.

The filing didn't indicate a reason for Morton's July resignation.

Also at the company's annual meeting set for Nov. 8, three Class I directors are to be elected to serve until 2005. The nominees are Chairman Kenneth Levy and directors Jon Tompkins and Lida Urbanek.

Stephen P. Kaufman has been a senior lecturer at Harvard Business School since January 2001, and from 1994 to June 2002, he was chairman of Arrow Electronics Inc. (NYSE:ARW - News) , the filing stated.

KLA-Tencor, San Jose, provides yield management and process control services for semiconductor and related industries.
