That isn't really what I was talking about, but it's interesting also.

What I was talking about was the disconnect between the work and the author, that it didn't matter whether the author was male or female, what experiences they had, what sort of life they led, even when they lived. That those things meant nothing to the interpretation of the text, which stood alone.

Affective fallacy is another doctrine, though, that seems very apt here.
