Well, I started hypothesizing, but deleted it. But one hypothesis is that you wear blue contact lenses over brown eyes, so you really don't have blue eyes in fact, but you have blue eyes in appearance to others, so what's the truth about your eye color?? Another is that you have brown eyes but both your parents have blue eyes and you learned in genetics class that two blue eyed parents can't have a brown eyed child because blue eyes are recessive, so you persuaded yourself that you were really blue eyed because admitting that you were brown eyed would mean you were not really who you thought you were, and it was easier to persuade yourself that you really had blue eyes. So you had created that in your mind as truth, so it wasn't a lie to you, but is to other people. Those are only two possibilities. Let your imagination roam over others.
