But if you say to somebody who's looking for you in a store "I have brown hair and brown eyes" they won't find you.

But I didn't say it to someone who was looking for me in a store. I said it on SI, where we can't see each other. There is no practical consideration here about being misidentified.

Here on SI, I would need to say I have brown eyes but wear blue contacts or just that I wear blue contacts or that I appear to have blue eyes or simply say nothing at all about my eye color to not be lying. People wear contacts that change their eye color for fun or because they don't like their real eye color. If I wear them for fun, there's no reason not to share that. If I wear them because I am self-conscious my real eye color, then I would be lying to improve my image.
