Alan, I'll stay out of this flame war for now. All I can say is that I heard seen several people forecast a period of undervaluation for INTC, which would make your prediction come true.

If so, i.e. if we still haven't seen the worst of it, I think the one good thing to emerge from this mess is the imminent downfall of AMD. This is out of a desire to see ASPs firm up, and not out of a desire to see hard-working engineers walk the streets. That will be good news for Intel, at least until Via, UMC, or some other Asian competitor gets their act together.

RE:"What have I done around here that could be characterized as "drive by flame bait" and would characterize me as a "jerk?""

You have said something negative or objective about Intel. For that you will be labeled a moron, jerk etc. by certain Intel faithful. Sound silly? It is.

Most Intel folk (including Tench, RE:"Alan, I'll stay out of this flame war for now") will always PASS on questions like yours in favor of the Intel faithful. Either saying nothing or avoiding the question or saying they "pass".

As I said before, the joke is that the Intel folk have now set up shop on another service claiming to be civil and against personal insult. This after they continually berated Mani on the other thread (AMD moderated). Someone over there even set up a mock AMD moderated thread someone started using Mani's name...but it was done by an imposter.
You are dealing with some strange one's here...and there.
Jim

Hi Alan, RE: "What have I done around here that could be characterized as "drive by flame bait" and would characterize me as a "jerk?"

Nothing earns that title. For awhile there, the thread tried to avoid name-calling, but there's a lot of steam these days on both sides (AMD & Intel). Maybe we can get back to what we were awhile ago, before all of this started, before WTC, Anthrax, war, terrorism, Enron, a 77% drop in Nasdaq, and before such reactionary fears to bioterrorism have the US consider giving up this country's world-leadership it has always (*) maintained by avoiding so-called "pre-emptive" strikes. Remember when the Presidential ballot counting seemed like a big deal?

Thoughtful posts are appreciated, but a newcomer that makes a post without an explanation backing up their statement could be confused accidentally with a taunting drive-by post like what we were bombarded with recently. (Not implying yours was, but some may have confused you with a different fly-by.)

Regards,
Amy J (*) Doesn't it just bug people how this country was founded? On the backs of slaughtering the previous people that lived here first. Not something to be proud of.
