Hey Russet,

The Barrick guys are smart and honest and reputable. They are not crooks or villains.

But they are wrong about hedging. There is no such thing as the elimination of risk. You, they, and Hutch think so, just as EDS did.

The ABX guys are probably smarter and more significantly, more educated than me. But their “greater” education only means that they have been more thourghly confused by what “modern education” has taught them. They can no longer think.

Here is an interesting statistic about "trading."

2% of any group of traders “wins."

Of that 2% less than 10% will continue to "win."

Of that 10%, less than 10% will continue to win

You remember the story about an infinite number of monkeys typing on an infinite number of type writers?

THAT, is what ABX is.

Barrick surprised observers last month by warning of reduced third-quarter earnings due to operational problems at several mines. As reported, actual earnings in the period were $34 million or 6 cents a share, down from $59 million or 11 cents a share in third quarter of 2001.
