Alan Greenspan gets knighted

The Queen will knight the chairman of the US Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan, when he visits Britain next week.

In a ceremony at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, Mr Greenspan will become an honorary Knight Commander of the British Empire, for his work in helping to steady the global economy.

However, the US central bank chief will not be able to call himself "Sir Alan" because he is not a British citizen.
