>>pre-emptively attacking sovereign states for no justifiable reason does not make the world more civilized. it only serves to make it more chaotic. the united states ought to take a hard look at its own moral compass rather than stomping around the globe on moral crusades.

No justifiable reason? hmmm. I am sorry but that is ridiculous.

Our society allows women to vote and work in government and run companies etc. We are pluralistic and tolerant. It is a joke to say that we should look at our own moral compass in comparison to others. Our society isn't perfect by any means but in discussing the Middle East, we are talking about a region that is stuck generations behind us. Yes, we have a history of intolerance related to african americans and women's rights etc... but that can be used as a model for the Middle East as we have unleashed productive and creative forces that are being repressed in the Middle East.

>>obvioulsy the terrorists feel that terrorism is working and they will get a better deal by continuing to fight. at the very least they feel they can get as much as was offered before, so there is little to lose.

little to lose? again, they are living in poverty and losing children to suicide and being killed by the Jewish military. I would say they have lost quite a bit.

>>>> As the military/economic superpower, we must involve ourselves <<

>>well to take a recent example--the british empire, i would say that strategy didn't work out so well for them. why will it work for us?

It has been working lately. Kuwait, Kosovo, Afghanistan.

>>most americans can't even identify who is jewish, so they can't make an accurate assessment of the influence.

welcome to a tolerant society where people are judged by their accomplishments and not by their family's religion. not judging people by their skin color or religion is the sign of a successful culture.
