Paul, I agree with you on the VIX. However, let's pretend that what we've just done is retest the lows -- you'd expect the VIX to reach a lower high. Sure, everyone's complacent/bullish as witnessed by today's VIX action. . . but that's exactly what it takes to make the VIX go down, isn't it?

I would also point to a potential "news" wildcard this week. I believe it was the 27th that the UN and Iraq are to talk about inspectors. What if Iraq gives unfettered access? What if the UN makes tougher demands? What if the US says "not enough anyway"? And will we even know during trading hours on Friday? Sure, it may be artificial news, but the war issue is hanging over this market, too.

Heck if I know. I'm still thinking lower, but I like to see the alternates.
