moment we can choose to be a different character if we want to be. If we don't
have free choice, then the issue of character becomes meaningless (imo).


I have to think about that, but on the surface it sounds irrefutable.

But I would say the issue of character doesn't become meaningless, but it becomes an immutable characteristic which people should not be judged on the basis of. Just as we don't (or shouldn't) judge people because of their skin color or height or sex, if character is truly immutable and genetically programmed without recourse for change, there is something fundamentally wrong, IMO, with judging people on the basis of character.
