by most estimates, 1.2 billion. I was concentrating on the Arabs as they are the source of the trouble just now. But any interpretation of a religion that has 30 million followers (a conservative estimate) cannot be defined as "an abuse" of the religion; at that scale, it has become a major religious sect in its own right.
