>>>KC.. I did read those links..<<<

Good Hawk. There is enough conflicting evidence there to suggest Bush policy may have had an effect, which is why I say you can pretty well read from it what you want, or see whatever you want to see.But the statement :

>>>Indeed, if the Hermit Kingdom actually opens up and joins even the pre-modern world, it will represent one of the great foreign policy successes of the Bush administration.<<<

Is a stretch and a half,IMO, considering the work that both Japan and South Korea have put into this in the last couple of years, and much more so just recently.

It reminds me of when the X-Spook met the O-Cowboy " down on da ranch " and signed a deal regarding Nuke reductions. The fanfare about Bush merely git'in together and " see'in aw ta aw lawk good o'le boyz "was laughable.Like it just happened " cawz they wuz a'communicatin good. "

The reality being, a number of countries, mine in particular through Ambassador Christopher Westdal, President of the Conference on Disarmament to the United Nations, spent countless hours - days - weeks -months - and years negotiating that particular agreement.None of this was mentioned, let alone recognized, or G-d forbid, praised at the time.

So when I see statements like..." one of the great foreign policy successes of the Bush administration ",I tend to drill down a little deeper now and look to find where the wind of change got its starts and gained enough momentum to do some good.

As LB and I have concluded, Politics is not a Science, it is an Art, and the paintings created for the public can be either oil or water, depending on your taste.I’m kinda partial to this one actually :
