Same reason they put the external antenna "back" on 7110, to squeeze that last dB out of the air.

Makes it easier for the operators to test, verify their networks, an external antenna behaves more "normal"
than an internal antenna, that is, lesser ifs and buts, blaming and finger pointing games when comparing to
measurement equipment,etc, in terms of field strength, directionality,etc.

An internal antenaa for 900/18001900 is also different than an 900/1800/2100MHz
