His points are good things to look at, and things that I do look at. But without quantifying them, just answering "yes" isn't enough to make something a buy.

Making money is great. But how much? Are those earnings reflected in the stock price? Is the money in the bank being put to good use? How much of it is there?

Without giving detailed answers, the "yes/no" answers aren'd adequate. That kind of simplistic analysis was leading people to buy overvalues stocks a year and a half ago, and is still being touted by people who can't be bothered to do any sort of rigorous analysis.
