Eric,

Re: "Maybe I'm not old enough to get it, but what does an old Beatles song have
to do with Penang Paul?"

You must be a "mere youngster" ... Back in the late sixties, there was a "rumor"
that Paul (McCartney) was "dead". This came about I believe because he was dressed
in white on one of their album covers (Abbey Road ??). Obviously, it
turned out NOT to be true.

Make It So,
Yousef

OT Hi Eric,

My uncle was a business owner of an engineering company, and when he retired he decided to make his mission in life "humor" because he said he had been too serious in his early years.

So, in his retirement, he would go to nursing homes and adult day care centers and do stand-up comedy to get folks to laugh.

Even though he was in his 60's, they would call him, "kid", because they were a lot older than him by 20 to 30 years. "The funny kid's coming tonight."

He'd try to create jokes that spoke to their generation and to the things that happened during their time. But once in awhile he'd miss wide and there would be dead silence.

When this would happen, he would slowly turn his head, looking at the the entire audience, pretending as if he was trying to figure out what was happening, and then he'd say:

"well, you see, my problem is, I'm just too old for people to get my jokes anymore."

They laughed so hard they cried.

Because they could relate to that.

Regards,
Amy J
