disturbing detail in WallStreetUrinal on internet capacity

if the top 20 cities in the USA all routed their entire internet traffic thru Chicago,
then Chicago's capacity would only be utilized at 25% !!!

I cannot see much fiberoptic component purchasing in the next couple years
tough climate for Nortel, Lucent, Uniphaz, and the army of niche component suppliers
every once in a while, I check a raft of such suppliers
e.g. Finisar, Optical Components, Sonus
their stocks are down 80-95% each

CNBC showed a misprint on JDSU share price this morning
it showed JDSU at 90 cents, down 1.20

last October2001 a young manager in my firm was proud of his LU stock purchase
we had discussed telecom crush stories on a client trip
he bought LU at 8.5 and asked what I thought

I said "you might bail out before it goes bust"
it was near 6.0 at the time
he said "no way, it is cheap"
I said to his dismay "no way, under a buck is cheap, and it will get there as sure as the perfect nose on my face"
he shook his head and smiled

LU at 92 cents today
this is a horrible environment, only to get worse
did I short it? NO
funny how at 6-7, its fate of sub-buck seems certain
but expectation of even 3 appears so full of risk in an investment position like an option put with 4-6 months time
