Some bailouts of airlines was probably unavoidable, but I think the cheapest thing to do at this time would be not allowing bankrupt airlines to continue operating, liquidating their assets quickly. This way, the overcapacity would partially go away without expenditure or additional regulation.

Joe, like I said to Tim, for safety reasons, I think we should step in and shut them down, or force a merger before they get to bankruptcy and lowered maintenance standards. As for assets, its a little scary......there are many planes sitting on the storage tarmac in AZ. Boeing, particularly, will be hard pressed to recover from this mess.
