wstera_02,

That was quite a litany that you came up with there. Where to begin?

It will behoove you to get some real background on the history of the relationship between the Bush Family and Saddam Hussein. For this, some of the best research I've found on the Net can be found here:

Breaking...... news from 1988.....

You gotta see this cartoon series first. This compelely sums up how utterly cynical the Bush lies are today:

mnftiu.cc

OK, back to the serious stuff, the scandal grew from 1988 until it was labeled "Iraq-gate" in 1992 by conservative columnist William Safire:

IRAQGATE: NY Times Wm. Safire on the criminal conspiracy in the G.H.W. Bush administration to subvert export regimes and prop up Saddan Hussein. Investigation eventually suppressed by pardon of Sec. of Def. Weinburger, among other maneuvers.: (Archival: Publication date 18 May 1992)
security-policy.org

Now, for the meat of the matter, here's a 23 pager on Iraq-gate. Naming names, spilling the beans on the whole tawdry affair that the Bushistas arranged during the Reagan-Bush years. This is compelling evidence that the nonsense about what a pest Hussein is is about 97% propaganda designed for U.S. Domestic Consumption and the rest may or may not be true:

Henry Gonzales amazing speech laying out the utter deceit of the U.S. realpolitik sales of arms to Iraq during the GHW Bush reign, this is long, comprehensive and completely damning.........

wstera_02, those who fail to read history are condemned to repeat it. You seem to be caught up in a 15 year old time warp. Feeling foolish now? You should.

All the best, Ray

W.

I don't see any particular necessity in drawing parallels between Hitler and Hussein in order to condemn Hussein. Hitler will always be the greatest evil. Hussein is simply another run-of-the-mill despot (but, importantly, one made significant by all that oil). Still, I do appreciate the thought and effort that you put into your reply. A good bit of homework and a well presented argument.

Cheers, Kip

(edit - just read Raymond's comment to you -- seems to me that his reading of history does have the greater relevance to current events).
