In a magazine, I saw a graph showing that Southwest's market cap is greater than all of the other major airlines' combined.

This isn't surprising. They had a really, really good idea about how to do airlines and they've executed. I used to frequently fly them between Dallas & Houston, though, and the term "cattle car" was often heard just outside the boarding areas.

But they were impressive in those days. The planes would literally turn around in a few minutes time. You scarcely had time to get everyone unloaded and loaded and you were in the air.

I don't fly anymore, but I'm guessing they aren't a lot different today...
