Baton, historically speaking, the market behaves much like a single stock does. Considering charts, volume and momentum comes in and a stock's price surges forward. . .with the drop on the other side generally steeper than the ascent as volume wanes. However, just like a single stock, there is very rarely an instant rebound. As people lose or lose interest they simply walk away. It takes TIME to get momentum re-started in a stock. . . or in the market. I believe that once we do hit bottom, we will need some time to flatline. Who knows how long? When the market is seen as the LAST place to put your money, hope will return. . . and eventually with that comes volume, then finally momentum. . . like seasons. . with momentum being the colors in the leaves which sets up the long cold winter.

As I suggested once before, if/when the real estate market finally succumbs to economic pressures and is no longer seen as a viable investment, it may be the best thing to happen to the stock market. It is all cyclical.
