I had an interesting conversation today.

A loud, opinionated guy was talking to a female colleague (who seemed to be in a bit of a hurry to escape.) The guy is going on and on about how America can do what we want because nobody can compete with us and that if we have a force of a factor of 400, the nearest competitor has maybe a force of 150.

Hmm. I wonder where this is going....

He continues about how "namby-pamby liberals don't want us to go after Iraq."

Oh, I say to self - I think I see how this is going...

So he continues telling me how we will turn them into mincemeat, yadda-yadda-yadda. The other employee has planned and executed her escape, leaving me to deal with Mr. Opinionated.

I finally say, "Well , if you are going after criminals who harm people, don't you think that South Africa is more of demonic force than Iraq? I mean the government in the embodiment of Mugabe seems more immoral and heinous than Saddam does."

"No, I don't think we should worry about anything below the Sahara."

Oh, really. Why is that, I query?

"Because they are all going to be dead in 15 years from AIDS, starvation and war."

Well, I guess that solves it, huh? I found something else to do.

Despite Mr. Opinionated's thesis, I really don't think it boils down to "namby-pamby liberals" though. This proposed war seems only popular with nutters. I know people who have teenage sons. Do they want their kids to go off and fight an oil war? I don't think any Bush family will be seeing ground action in Iraq. Do you?

comicfarce should take note that Canadian suicide rates have skyrocketed under a so called loving liberal regime.
