Choice, I agree. I may make that choice. Or I may choose not to -- that's the essence of choice.

Obligation, no.

Perhaps the reason is something I wish to keep private. Perhaps I had to stop off on the way to beg on the street to get enough money to pay for the lunch I invited you to and don't want you to know that I am broke. Is it your right to know all that? Is it my obligation to tell you all that?

Or perhaps I just learned that I had AIDS and broke down in the doctors office and needed time to recover, but you aren't a person I'm willing to share my diagnosis with. Am I still obligated to explain?
