I've met "never apologize and never explain" people.

is what i wrote. You actually pasted it as I wrote it.

Maybe you were reading quickly, and misread.

I have met them. They are a common type. Lots of yuppies are "never apologize and never explain" people; though it's not simply a yuppie phenomenon.

It makes a statement the type likes to make: it's all about being one-up.

It's also a manifestation of... well, of the opposite of caring about the other person's feelings.

My guess is that at least one portion of the "never apologize, never explain" crowd is simply very insecure, and showing that they 'care' leaves them feeling vulnerable; but that's an intuitive 'take' on those I've met. I didn't do a study!
