Really depends what insurance company you're looking at. BRK has a huge commercial insurance practice, but not a lot of exposure to health and smaller exposure to consumer stuff. They also have a huge amount of other stuff in their portfolio, which tends to make them a poor "poster boy" for the general insurance industry. Nonetheless:

They've done well vs. INTC:

Chubb has done less well, they've lost less than INTC, but still lost quite a bit over 2 years:
